I bet this Trooper on Ebay will go cheap. He says he is selling it because of a "knock under the hood" . Anybody willing to put up with a little hydraulic lifter noise could score a good deal...

hehe...I'd buy it if it was in the 916, but then my g/f would have me living in it. I saw another one on ebay a couple months ago described as having a knock requiring "major engine work". I was tempted to gamble on the possibility that it was only the t-belt tensioner, but it was on the wrong coast as well.
Hey, Steve...you do need a new 'Zu, don't you?

Yep that could end up being a steal. Many people will shy away from it knowing it has a "knock". Would make a nice trail runner with some tweaks.

For something like a more realistic price from what it is right now my guess is you could rebuild the motor or wholesale replace it and have a zero-miles engine with a 60K tranny - which ain't bad.

Do some mods while you're in there.. yeah...

I would love to buy something like this for $400-$500 and then wheel the thing like crazy. I baby my 2002 Trooper around, and it would be sooooo fun to bang around in a beater... Too bad it's in NC.

probably...still test driving it though.
Maybe I need to lift it and throw some 35s on there and go find this "Rubicon Trail" I've heard so much about...then repeat with the 88. They both do fine wheeling around the mall.

Selling it for cheap due to knocking under the hood?

Hmm mine was knocking last week. It cost me $95 for parts and labor for my wrench to adjust my valves..That was just because I was too lazy to do it myself.

Hmm wrong coast for me too..Toobad!

I've been working on trying to get that one already. You had to let the cat out of the bag, huh...
