If I have time, I'll check it out later this week (if it hasn't sold yet)

Oh I will.

And I'll be sure not to mention about the several additives that can aid in the elimination of said serious "knock"

Getting the Wheeling Fever
You guys don't think that that's just a little unethical? If someone did the same thing to a friend of yours selling a car, I bet there'd be posts on here talking about doing them violence, just like with those car thieves.

Maybe you haven't read the ad:
Quote
Buyer agrees to as is/where is, no guarantees or warantees and understands that the vehicle is being sold due to engine knock. I am not a mechanic, therefore I can only tell you what I was told. Possible lifter problem, however could drive for years.

It is more an issue of him scaring off potential buyers with the way he wrote his ad that will keep the price down. He knows it is probably lifter noise, the guy just doesn't want to deal with it. So I don't see an ethics problem here.

yeah, I've actually seen several RS's listed "Troopers" of one form or another, then I see the pic and low and behold! 2 missing doors! I was trying to convince my sister/B.I.L. that a trooper would be great for them, cheap, durable, and plenty o room <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif" alt="" /> Now that I know you're looking for an RS, I'll keep an eye out!

Interesting find, the guy who bought my Troop for $2000 in February is selling it now for $2200. He might try to scam someone, so be carefull. Just to let you know, it has a knocking rod, not timing belt. I originally thought it was the belt, cause it was due for a change anyways. I had the tensioners and belt replaced. The seller Knows it is not the belt, but lies and says it is.... It indeed is the #5 cylinder rod knocking, surprised it's still for sale. I sold it because I needed the room. it was either that or my 87 TroopII. My cousin and I began restoration on the 87 before he died in an auto accident, so you see why i chose it...

www.houstonclassifieds.com click on Autos, then Suvs, then scroll till you see 1993 Trooper RS...

here's one in Florida

93 RS

Yeah I saw that one, although I could have sworn it was a 5-speed; now it says auto. I'll send them an email, but $5000 is more than I can afford for a second vehicle...

EDIT: the header info says auto, but the detailed description says 5-speed. I have sent an email to clarify, and also to confirm it is an RS listed as an S.

Well it looks like this one is gone...hard to tell though. They didn't reply to my email so I called them, and the guy is like, "what Trooper, we don't have any Troopers, it must have sold".

I would have been a lot more reassured if he actually remembered the vehicle. Not impressed with "Car Connection" in Pensacola.

Okay - What's an RS? - I thought this was the "Really Short" Troopers with 2-doors and not much of a cargo bay? What do you call an 88 2-door full length Trooper (is it an "LS" for "Longer than Short")? CM
