Just picked up a new '04 regular cab 4x4 and the mod bug has already bitten. I'm looking for new, more aggressive than stock tires. I have a manual tranny with 4.30 gears. Do you think my truck could handle 265/75's powerwise with just the 2.7 and 4.30's? The specific tire I was looking at was the Dunlop Radial Rover r/t. This tire runs a tad small at 31.5 inches. How bad would the rubbing be on the stock suspension?

Thanks

I'm not too sure about the fitment issue, but there shouldn't be too much trouble with power loss. My '88 22RE has about 180,000 miles on it with stock 4.10:1 ring and pinions and isn't too bad with 32" Swampers (just a tad taller than the tires you're considering).

How'd you get the 4.30 gears? auto transmission? I just bought an '04 regular cab 4x4 5-spd and it has the 3.91 gears.

BTW 265/75R16 will fit with no issues at all, *from what I've read*. I will be installing some 265/75R16 AT's before winter, these BFG's are completely useless - but hey, they're round!

I have a manual and it came with the 265/70 tires. The door code says b07a. I got conflicting info from posts on different boards that said I had 4.30's, 4.10's or 3.91's. I finally jacked up the rear, spun the tire and counted the driveshaft rotations and came up with 4.30's. I repeated the test a couple times to verify. How do you know you have the 3.91's? What rpms are you at traveling at 70 mph?

Sorry, I should have specified 265/75-16's. They are about 1 inch taller than 31x10.5-15's.

I spent many hours researching this same thing.
I'm runnin 265/75/16s on my 2.7l and full stock suspension.
I have NO problems with rubbing and I just got done wheeling hard at Paragon 2 weeks ago.
Power loss is minimal with a manual tranny.

My window sticker states 3.91 gears.

Hmmm, at 70 I am turning around 2700 rpm.
