i have a 98 runner and out of the blue the rear window just stopped working. I tried the key but did not know of a 5 second delay so I will try that to see if the window is getting power. I was thinking maybe a fuse. I have only owned the 4runner for just two months so I am still learning this rig. Has anyone figgured out there problem yet?

Ok, given enough time, I was able to figure this out on my own. Aside from thinking that I can just go without a working rear window (4 months already), I applied knowledge that has worked in other areas of electronics

Get yourself a few Q-tips and some dielectric grease. Remove the (center console) rear window switch and clean the contacts with a dry Q-tip. Now apply a very thin film of dielectric grease with another clean Q-tip. Put the switch and wiring back together, turn on the ignition key and Works great! As an added bonus, the key in the rear door also operates the rear window now -

If this doesn't work, then check the continuity of the switch and keep troubleshooting.

Also, first always check that the rear wiper is properly seated on its perch. That will override rear window operation.
