I read a few of the links. Seems like a lot of debate on the subject. Some guys type more than others, but they all say things and disagree with each other. No good quoted sources. Definitly no proof as to why you should pay $20 for Mobile 1 over $11 for SupraTech, or even just $4.50 for regular oil if you're doing regular driving. (Yet, for the record, I will continue to baby my Rodeo with synthetic)

One guy says he's an independant contractor lubrication specialist...but that's what he put on the board.

I'm not saying he's lying or the information is wrong. I'm just saying that one thing that is traceable is the FTC chasing down Mobile 1 for their original claims, or Slick 50 having to change their advertising after the FTC got done. Same with fuel additives; lots of claims (same company but one cleans injectors, one cleans carbs, one cleans the fuel system, what's the difference besides price?) and only Techron has put up any independant testing to prove it.

Same with our oil debate: Has anyone seen Mobile 1 tested against any other oils to see what (or if) it's better? I'd hate to have Consumers Reports be the only researched source.

[joke] Spongebob would be more of an expert if he was brown, from cleaning up the notorious 4ze1 oil leaks....[/joke]
