After hearing of Stony's success story I think I'm going to go for this - my lifter noise is pretty bad and if this doesnt work I'll look to more tedious means of correcting the problem - i.e. new lash adjusters or whatever it needs beyond what a cleaning could do... For now though I plan to flush 3 times, use new filters each time, and clean the oil pan on the final flush.

My question, perhaps even if you dont like my idea, is: I use Mobil 1 exclusively as did the previous owner. Is it necessary or at all beneficial to use Mobil 1 through each flush or is the cheapest oil I can find gonna be sufficient? At $5/qt the Mobil 1 path is gonna get pricey. <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif" alt="" />
