ok so i've been having problems with my truck . so i thought that i could take the MAF - is what i thought it was but its my AFM and clean it. well i took the AFM off the air box. unscrewed the plug part and realized that it wasn't supposed to be unscrewed so i screwed it back in. i than proceded to unscrew the bottom plate of the AFM and thought that will get me no where. so i put it all back how i found it. i really didn't touch anything. now its throwing a code and when i check it with the multimeter it is not within specs. WHAT DID I DO? WHAT CAN I DO TO FIX IT. i finally was goin to break down and go to the stealer. i cannot even drive it there. AFM is a crucial part of operations i found out :-D.

i dunno what i'm asking for but i need some direction thank you

ryan

Take the top cover off the AFM(the part that looks like it is siliconed on) and check that you didn't pull any wire loose when you unscrewed the connector from the AFM. That happened to mine and it would start and tun for only about 10 secs before dying.

Ouch! Guess you learned a lesson the hard way..not trying to sound like a know it all, but one rule I keep is never to touch the AFM short of disconnecting the wiring harness if needed. You might look on EBAY or call a parts yard if you end up replacing it. Last I checked the dealerships wanted like an arm and a leg and your first born for an AFM.
Heres what I found on Partsvoice.com which lists dealership inventories etc.

Hope you can fix yours.

I've always been curious about this.

Didn't realize what type if connector it was, unscrewed it and pulled it out. Fortunatly, didn't break any connectors, but I mess up the the little rod that signals the fuel pump to come on. Fixed that it worked fine...until...it got water in it and died later on.

Soooo, when you put it all back together, make darn sure you silicone it really good.

You should be fine. Good luck.

When I had to replace mine I found one on Ebay for $45 with a K&N FIPK, so a great score when I sold the FIPK back for $125!! Look around on Ebay, I think you can find a few for about $20.

*Are the V6 and 22R-E AFMs the same? If so I can send ya one, but you would have to wait for it to come out of Washington with Tuesday being the earliest I could get it out. Actually have one all bubble wrapped and boxed that was supposed to go to the East coast, but ended up not needing to send it. Everything specs out on it too. Aint TAP down there near you somewheres? They charge almost the same as dealerships, but their products are well used! lol ~Darin <img border="0" alt="[Baby]" title="" src="graemlins/baby.gif" />

I believe that there is a difference between the two, could be wrong on that one though.
