Well, Slowly things keep evolving on my rodeo.

So now I feel the need to resurrect a subject that has probably been discussed many times before but I didnt find quite what I was looking for in my searches.

So I would like to stick with my 3.2 liter SOHC engine with my 4l30e (whatever the sequence is) Automatic tranny.

Can I just pull out the xfer case and with some sort of simple adapter mate up dual toy t-cases?

Or am I better off just running tera lows and calling it good.

I don't know if you can adapt the 4L30E to Toyota T-cases. But if your up for a tranny swap at the same time... here is a good thread with lots of info.

Good luck and keep us updated. <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/kewl.gif" alt="" /> <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/cheers.gif" alt="" />

how involved do you wanna get on this project? have access to machining resources? basically, no matter what route you go, dual tcases is going to be a lot of custom work. nothing out there existes for a bolt together option for the Isuzus.

running a toy tcase on your isuzu automatic? i'm pretty sure there isn't an adapter out there for this. i'm also pretty sure the input/output shafts are probably different diameter/spline count, so it would probably be more than an adapter, but a new input shaft for the toy tcase as well. again, no one makes this, but with enough research, it could probably be machined. i don't know enough about the toy parts to help you any more.

another option? dual isuzu tcases! slap another auto tcase on the back of the one you already have. This project would follow the same lines of what myself, Chad, and Dan have done, but instead of using the integrated tranny/tcase (MUA5), you would be mating to another auto tcase. Process would be about the same, two hurdles to overcome, adapting the two together, and then clearing the front output of the first to make way for the front driveshaft to hit the second. but the beauty of this approach is that if you remove the output flange of your tcase, the spline shaft is a perfect match for the input of another isuzu automatic tcase.

look here to get some ideas.

koby, I have a machine shop with CNC mill and laithe, press, drill, emd (emp?? i dont know, that shocker thing) and a few other things that we could get our hands on if you need it. We could build that adapter. All we will need is the material and a measured graph so we can draw it out on the computer and cut it out on the machine.

If you want to keep that one word 'simple,' then the answer is easy -- and negative.

If you're willing to DIG into it, then it becomes more plausible... other folks have successfully stacked Isuzu transfer cases, with a good bit of effort. Putting a 'Yota case behind the Isuzu transmission has yet to be done, but is certainly possible. Machining a tailhousing/adapter to connect the two is sorta involved, vut all you're really doing is making precision measurements and transferring them to metal. If you have to pay somebody to do this, it will be expensive, but if you have time in a machine shop to yourself, all it should cost is hours...

IMHO, the adapter coupling for the shafts is going to be the bigger challenge. If you're near a major prototyping center (Los Angeles is GREAT for this), you can get ANYTHING made to ANY specs, if you have the bucks. Speccing it is a lesser challenge, here. Some folks have welded couplers together in the past, but that is pretty difficult to do with minimal runout and maximum concentricity. Still, this route is do-able, if you work with someone who REALLY knows what they're doing.

Going the dual Isuzu 'case that Rob metions simplifies the situation, since the transfer case for the Auto already has a female-splined input shaft that matches the output splines of Isuzu transfe cases.

I suggest that you get the Tera setup first, and identify whether you want or need further reduction.

So for parts I already have a donor Toy t-case, I also have a toyota @1990 V6 automatic transmission. It has seen a lot of miles 200K+ and is probably pretty worn out.

What I would like to run is a 4.3 liter vortec engine with my tranny and tcase(s).

But if it were easier/cheaper to go the toyota tranny route I might consider doing that instead.

What you guys think?

Rob and Randy both mentioned Isuzu Transmission I thought the 4L30e was General Motors. Found this under junk yard parts 4L30E see General motors I know that doesn't change the parts compatibility problem, but I thought the Isuzu Auto Tranny was an AW30 something or other.
