Yup -- I agree with Curtis for 99% of the time. I have used my stupid-low (211:1) in a handful of situations, but it was always an optional obstacle. It is very fun to move so slowly that you can drive up on two wheels over an obstacle and be completely in control, and fun to use engine torque to dial in the angle of attck whilst creeping, but it ain't necessary. That said, it certainly is *nice*.

I've 'wheeled an auto in front of a set of Teras, and I had damn near the same control. The slip in the torque converter makes up for an awfuyl lot... but you do have to learn to two-foot the controls for the finest degree of adjustment. I prefer my manual tranny and multiple transfer cases, but that's just that, a PREFERENCE.
