all pro has their shipping dept in turtle speed #493319 08/24/04 07:18 PM

i ordered a bunch of stuff that i had planned to be here when i needed them from all pro. i placed the order last monday(today is tuesday of the next week) and i was thinking a week to get here across the usa(cal to oh).

after not seeing anything yet i called and sarah said it shipped out on friday......then she said i didnt order it until tuesday...WRONG! so it takes them a whole week to go from taking the order to getting the things they say they have in stock out the door. so she said schedueled delivery date is this friday. almost 2 weeks to get an order from them.

just make sure you dont make plans around all pro or get your shipment dates from them..i took for granted they were on the stick.

just a heads up.

thanks all pro

Doesnt that just bite? Few years ago I ordered some parts from RockAuto and paid extra for express shipping since I kinda needed the parts to move my truck. Long story short, my extra $14 got me the parts 3 days later than if I would have went with standard shipping. I wanted to grab a big envelope, poopie in it and send it to their customer service department for all the help they provided. Luckily I came to my senses and realized it would be more messy than effective. You may want to try it though...

i could just wait till tomorrow morning when the dogs go out and grap a box instead of an envelope.

sometimes i think that nobody really cares about your problems..they are just doing a job.

I had the same problem with AP when I did my SAS several years ago. My truck was all torn apart in my Dad's driveway, 80 miles from my house. (Long story, but basicly, my custom IFS broke and it was cheaper to tow there than to my house) Anyway, I could only work on it on the weekends and I ordered stuff well in advance with the hopes I would get it on a certain date. They're only 3 days UPS from my place. A week later, no parts. Then a few days after that only some parts showed up. Talking to Gieger (who no longer works there, was like talking to a pissed off brick wall. That was fun.) Then I got lucky and talk to some other guy a few days later and he said the rest of my parts were still sitting there, weeks after I originally ordered them. He apologized and sent them to me 2nd day air, at no cost to me.

Keep in mind, that was over 2 years ago. A lot has changed at All Pro. Gieger is gone. They have a manager now that actually stays at the shop and tryes to manage things instead of galavanting around in some tiny ars VW powered buggy. And they have real competition from Marlin and Longfield which keeps them on their toes.

The thing about All Pro, is for a while, they used to be the only game in town and they thought their didn't stink. But that's all changed, so they are getting better, but they're still a small operation that gets dozens or hundreds of calls a day and I'm sure the poor folks running the phones and shipping get overwhelmed.

But all that said, the second they call you a lier, they might at well be telling you to F-off and they don't want your business. I'd say, fine! Post your story...you can't imagine how much business places lose just from posts like this...and go to some other place for your parts. I don't blame you one bit for being pissed off if that's how it happened.

One last thing. As for shipping. I just ordered a 50lb item from Florida, shipped to Oregon and it took 8 days, so it can take a while to ship cross country standard UPS, especially heavy stuff.

Good luck.

If you have a problem with a vendor my recommendation is to talk to that vendor and resolve the problem. If you cannot come to a resolution, cancel the order. Or talk to the owner, who will likely affect the outcome more than this BBS. Not trying to sound harsh, but over the years I have gotten to know several people who work and run Toyota shops personally. They are normal people just like you and me, except they are trying to turn their pasttime into their living. They make mistakes, but I have always found that they are reasonable when you explain the situation to them.

Just to respond the comments about talking to a pissed off brick wall. There comes a point, especially in the afternoon, your now up against a hard dead line. Your UPS driver will show up in two hours and you have a list of promises that need to be filled. You have been trying to get these promises shipped. Some promises are things that are very important to the person you made the promise to, like he is missing a part to get his truck rolling for a trail ride, or he was sent the wrong part or a defective part. You want the full attention of the person your talking to by all I can think of is shipping the parts I have already promised.

All day you have been trying to fill the promises faster than they come in, but often you can't keep up. In comes down to a decision between helping the person calling right now, and the person you talked to an hour ago. The phones ringing, but if you spend too much time on the phone, your promise to get the other parts will fail. You will then become a liar to the first person.

This is the point where you can't win. The boss says answer the phones, but you risk getting the other orders completed.

The solution is obvious, more staff, but this is not always an option with the boss who needs a new motor in his drag car or a new truck and trailer to pull it.

The answer I choose was to fire my boss and go in a new direction. In joining the Marlin Crawler Team I find that everyone is pulling together. As a team we have been working hard to improve shipping times and inventory levels. We now are shipping %80 of our orders within 24 hours. Our goal by the end of the year is %90 of orders shipped within 24 hrs.

This is how it is with all the vendors. There just dudes tryin to do the best they can. Without em where would most of us be. I say order your parts a month before you need them, and dont hold your breath that your gonna get something put together a week before you need it. These guys are not making millions by selling toyota dohickys. They are slugging it out in an econmic system that doesn't do many favors for small businesses.

That was your first mistake. It is clear your planning was unrealistic.

I am not saying All Pro should not have gotten the parts out, but it's been a week. After being in and around the 4wd parts community for 10+ years, I can tell you that a week is no time at all.

Next time, I suggest you not try to cut yourself so short on time and order earlier
