I can get one with a wireless remote for about 750.00$ brand new .Would you buy this product or spend a bit more for somthing better? My rig has to weigh at least 5000lbs( 92 xtra cab)The model # is RW109154 .I have very little experience with winches so any advice is appreciated.

There are alot of winches out there cheaper than that.In my opinion a 9500lb is a little overkill for a Toyota. If you want/need that much pull buy a 8000lb winch & get a snatch block. And does anyone really need a wireless remote???For the $$ they charge for them just put a switch in the cab on the dash.

IMHO 9000 or 9500 is about right. Doesn't take much to bind up the truck against a rock or deep mud and end up needing it.

I would go Warn personally. Several options in that price / capacity range.

My personal favorite is Warn. A lot of people run them here and for a reason. A winch is one of those things that if you buy a cheaper one you feel good about saving some money until the first time it doesnt work. There are always deals going on with Warns. I got my M8000 for like $550 I think last year, deals are out there. Plus I wired mine up to my power windows switch so I can control it through that. Just used stuff I had here in the garage.

Personally, I do not like Ramsey winches, I have seen to many fail on the trail. As far as size I would go with a 9,000 pound on your truck, I have an 8,000 on my 90 ex-cab and there has been many times I wished it were bigger!!!!!!!

All personal opinion but a friend of mine "weldenupafatone" has a Ramsey 9500 Patriot series and that is by far the BEST winch i have ever seen! it pulls like no other and is extremely fast. When i was stuck down in Fordyce a friends new Warn 8000 couldnt pull me out with a snatch but the Ramsey 9500 could. This winch has never given him problems and i believe he's owned it for a couple years now. From what i have seen i would recommend the Ramsey 9500 to anyone because it has proved it self countless times. I have a Mile marker that's a 8000 i paid much less but suffer in speed tremendously, it pulls harder then any 8000lb winch i've seen but the spool speed is deathly slow. As everyone well knows Warn has been around for along time and is a pretty trustworthy brand, usually they're the company setting the standards for others to follow but in my opinion the Ramsey is worth every dime.

Up here it is a clear out price . I am leaning towards a WARN but the RAMSEY is 35% cheeper .I dont care for the remote but its the only ones they have . I don't think I will go less than 9500lbs and I will still use a snatch block. On some US web sites they are about 1000.00$.SHAMB gave it a glowing review That makes it tempting

If the Ramsey is cheaper then go with it, you will not regret it. PM "weldinupafatone" and he can tell you how many times that winch has paid for it self, i've been hooked to it more then once

Warn is a good winch to but price wise i'd probably choose the Ramsey just because its cheaper and does the job just as well as Warn in my opinion.

As with any eletric winch (Warn,Ramsey,MileMarker)just remember to take your time whether it's a fast winch(Warn)or a slow winch(Ramsey,MM)give the motor time to cool if it gets hot & any winch should give you years of service.

Almost any winch is better than no winch at all. If $$ are an issue, by all means grab the opportunity at hand. I also believe it's how you use the winch. Snatch blocks, straight pulls letting it cool appropriatly all make a difference. I've always used the formula of 1.5 x maximum loaded weight of the vehicle is the MINIMUM pull rating you want. 5000lb truck with 1000 lbs of stuff gives you a minimum of 9000lb winch. I think you'll be fine.

Twenty years from now you will be more disappointed by the things you didn't do than by the ones you did.
