other that the extra hole in the tunnel for the transfer case shifter, are there any physical differences between 3rd gen 2wd and 4wd cabs? how about beds? thx.

I know the flare of the fenders is much less on 2wd trucks. More than likely stock 31" tires would rub on a 2wd body.

i know of a difference in the fender flare, 4wd bigger and wider to alow the bigger tire(duh, yes i know). i know of a few lowrider id-jits that swapped in the 4wd beds so they could tuck a bigger set of rims and lower the truck more.

i dont know of any thing else

Very little is different other than the suspension.

Here is a lifted 2wd and a 4wd. Just looking at them, you can hardly see the difference.

Don't know about 3rd gen, but on 1st and 2nd they're the same except for the fender flare at the wheel opening as stated above, and the hole for the t-case shifter. Everything else is the same and interchangeable.

1st and 2 gen beds also have the same mounting bolt pattern.

Its a fabtech 3.5in lift kit, 2in RB body lift, 33x15x12.5in tires and 4wd shocks. Its also got 4.30 gears. 2wd trannies aren't geared like 4wd so 4.30 matches 33's.

The difference between the 2wd and 4wd third gen(84-88) trucks are bigger wider front fenders, different bumper end caps, and the bed wheel wells are also wider/more square on the 4x4's, everything else is the same. You can use the 2wd fenders and beds on 4x's if you cut the fenders and run a set of bushwacker fender flares.
