since its older than 94 it should be the 42RE or whatever the new tranny is. they stopped using the AW4 in 94 or ZJ's with the 4.0

Well, I had my jeep worked on yesterday. The problem was a solenoid, governor pressure failed. They used:
Gasket OI 21004003 Transduce 21030410 Solenoid 8059043 Oil Autom 1081018 Solvent
Also, the DRB III test found an oxygen sensor was faulty. So they replaced the Sensor OX 8037155
All of this cost my $50 - the warranty deductable - and the jeep runs fine.

That would be the solenoid on the valve body. It causes all sorts of weirdness when it goes bad. They probably also drilled the valve body to enlarge the one return hole that clogs up while they were at it. (whole process takes about 3 hours)
Build your truck the head men say, but it must be built in such a way...
