Eh, 1000 grit is pretty fine sandpaper. You may be able to polish that out starting with a coarse polish and working your way to a fine one. I've got a smidge of detailing knowledge, so PM me or e-mail me if you'd like some more help.

Be patient with the adhesive though... take your time. Goo gone is great stuff for this application. As well, Avon's Skin-so-soft is a great adhesive remover. It smells good and is gentle as all get out. Don't know if you'd have access to that though.
