Anybody had to replace a frt wheel bearing on an '02 Runner?
Are they pressed out and in?
How hard to DIY?

They are pressed in and out. Based on experiences from people who have installed the manual hub kit, you are 99% certain to destroy the bearings when they are pressed out. So plan on buying new replacement bearings before you press them out. You need a shop press at a minimum if you want to DIY. There's also a special tool with a few pins that may be required to torque a ring to 200 ft-lbs. I actually didn't see that part of it so I don't know what I'm talking about there.

It's not hard to do yourself IF you have the right tools and all your parts before you start.

Go to the Toyota maintenance section on this site and read up on the front end maintenance article to see what all is entailed.

That bearing isn't a cone and race bearing, its a ~2" wide sealed bearing. Cost like $70. Guess I need to find a manual for a 2002. That's not EZ either. Anybody else looked for one? Aftermarket? Anybody have one?

FWIW, most of us have the pre-Taco rigs, so you're on your own with a fancy schmancy new rig in the Runner zone. No knocks; that's just the way 'tis. Here's a link for an FSM. Yes, they're not cheap, but if you're going to keep your rig a long while, GET ONE. Had my 86 for 2 years before I got one for Christmas; still drivin the ol' gal. Good luck! <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/kewl.gif" alt="" />

Actually, your question is on the correct forum, Woodsie. Most people on this 'Toyota 4Runner and SUV' forum have '96 or newer rigs.
