They are pressed in and out. Based on experiences from people who have installed the manual hub kit, you are 99% certain to destroy the bearings when they are pressed out. So plan on buying new replacement bearings before you press them out. You need a shop press at a minimum if you want to DIY. There's also a special tool with a few pins that may be required to torque a ring to 200 ft-lbs. I actually didn't see that part of it so I don't know what I'm talking about there.
