KIAFREEKROB Mudrunner Excessive brake dust, or even just trail dust used to make my front brakes squeek. As for the metal clip on the brake pad, it is there to warn you when the pads need to be replaced. It will rub against the rotor, thus it wont ruin the rotor like when the pad runs out. Why go around? When You can go over! USA J joer4x4 Mudrunner If the pads are hard and they can glaze over squeek. Not too much you can do about it unless you want to try to sand the pads down to get the glaze off. I just replace my front pads because of this (they were worn to about 3/4). I'm experimenting with a soft pad from ARB. quicker stopping time, but don't know how long they'll last. The clip probably broke off? As far as I know, all pads today use clips. Some older pads were designed to squeal when fully worn down requiring no external clip.
