Excessive brake dust, or even just trail dust used to make my front brakes squeek.

As for the metal clip on the brake pad, it is there to warn you when the pads need to be replaced. It will rub against the rotor, thus it wont ruin the rotor like when the pad runs out.

Why go around? When You can go over!
