Hi,

I got some MT/Rs and I want to mount them to a 2nd set of rims for trail use.

I was trying to search on this site, just "backspacing" comes up with so many other posts. I just spent a good amount of time in the search section with no luck.

- Want to learn what backspacing is.
- Which rims (cheaper the better) will fit my Rodeo. I see lots of chevy tahoe/ gmc yukon rims for cheap. will they fit?

I really like the way the stock rim sits (position wise) I don't want them to stick out any more.

Thanks again!
Ashby

Any wheel with a 6 lug on 5.5 centers will fit your 'Zu. As far as I know Chevy's new wheels are the same as the old ones, 6 on 5.5.Also wheels from a 'Yota or Nissan will work too.

Mitsubishi also uses the 6 on 5.5.

backspacing is the distance from the wheel mounting surface (where the lugs are) back to the edge of the wheel. another words, take a 8" wide rim w/ 4" backspacing. this means the mounting surface is in the center of the rim (also called zero offset).

So for a given width rim, you can have several different backspacings. and those backspacings are what may cause one 8" wide rim to work, but another 8" wide rim to rub.

FALSE!

Sorry, nothing personal...
This is ONLY to insure accuracy:

There are two different sized hub openings for 6-bolt / 5.5ö wheelsà

The ones on our Isuzus (as well as Toyotas, Mitsubishis, Nissans, etc.) have the larger of the two hub opening sizes. --- Whereas, those on many (if not all) Chevrolets, GMCs etc. have the smaller hub openings.

Just because they are 6 on 5.5 wheelsà that fact alone DOES NOT mean that theyÆll fit!

HTH!

Six Isuzus, so far... still have three of them.

You probably could if they were steel or if they were on a lathe or CNC milling machine. But doing so would probably weaken the wheel a bit. On our farm we have a wagon and all the wheels have had the center torched out to fit over the bearing on the wagon. When I took one tire and wheel to a place to get mounted, the guy looked at me funny and started joking around. Apparently they like to use the torch whenever they can . BUt they were cool about it. But unless you bore out the centers carefully and precisely, the tire may be all but impossible to balance.

I found a deal on some '00 Toyota Tundra 16x7 black steel wheels. They are 6 lug (but the owner doesn't know bolt pattern or much of anything else about them)

He's over an hour drive from where Im at. So I wanted to check w/ the gurus on this board before I take time and effort to drive out there to see if someone knows if these will definately not fit.

He's asking $60 for the set of 4, I have a good feeling he'll for for $45-50.

I plan to mount the LT265-75-16 MTRs on these rims and just use them for the trails.

Thanks for all the responses!

Toyota rims fit. The only 6 lug pattern I've ever heard of is 6 on 5.5, so the only thing you have to worry about is the hub size, but yes Toyota rims do fit on isuzu.
