The button which releases the parking brake of my 98 Cherokee broke! Upon a quick glance at the chilton's and haynes manuals, I didn't see any instruction for replacement. I'll assume the part will be ordered from the Jeep dealership, but I still need some pointers on how to fix this. So, the questions is:

"Can anyone here give me some pointers on how to fix the thing?"

Can you believe this has happened to me on every car I've owned?! I'll have to evaluate my actions to see if there's a trend that's causing this destruction...
