Getting the Wheeling Fever
The button which releases the parking brake of my 98 Cherokee broke! Upon a quick glance at the chilton's and haynes manuals, I didn't see any instruction for replacement. I'll assume the part will be ordered from the Jeep dealership, but I still need some pointers on how to fix this. So, the questions is:

"Can anyone here give me some pointers on how to fix the thing?"

Can you believe this has happened to me on every car I've owned?! I'll have to evaluate my actions to see if there's a trend that's causing this destruction...

Thanks in advance!
Dave

Getting the Wheeling Fever
I swung by the Jeep dealership and, surprise surprise, I can only buy the entire assembly for a steal of nearly $80! That information being known, I think I'm going to try a little JB weld and see how that goes. If that fails, it's off the the junk yards!

Thanks for the input!

Oh, and I think they're breaking from a strap occaisionally getting caught on the release button and me pulling on the bag without realizing it's caught although, I would like to believe it's my herculean strength).

Are you sure it is your bag? Could it be you are hanging your heels on it too?

Hmm you must be doing something funny. When i use it i just press the pedal till i wont move. When i get in i just pull a little till it releases. Are you jerking it? The constanst sudden jarring could create a weak point. just pull, very soft sweet and lovingly. She'll treat you right.

A little clarification is a must! My cherokee is a standard transmission and therefore has the hand operated parking brake...So I'm pretty sure it's not my heels (or any other lower appendages )getting caught!
