OP
Getting the Wheeling Fever
|
87 yj 4.2 w/ Howell FI and Hei ignition.The problem is when the engine is cold,Jeep runs awesome has power and pulls good even at 70 mph on highway.When the engine warms up it makes noise ay about 2500 rpm and losses power

tune it up. your electronics are probably weak. maybe even a bad distributor. if it was internal it would be noisy from startup.

does it ping or detonate? if either are occeruiong you can first try 91 octane if it still is doing it you'll have to retard the timing a bit. if you let it ping/detonate i garntee you'll blow a hole through a piston. if it does it immidiatly get off the throttle.

Yeah set it at 7 degrees @ 1600 RPM,VROOM no noise,LOTSA POWER Thanks guys some times you got to go back to basics so you dont get caught <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/sleeping.gif" alt="" />
