Hi-top campers... who makes em? #501610 09/14/04 04:40 AM

I know Leer has one, but I'm having trouble finding others (might be my limited knowledge of who makes shells). I'm looking to buy and just want to make sure I look at all my options.

Thanks

Body Damage is Cool
There's probably a custom canopy place in your neck of the woods that can do one. I had a cab-high at one point (cab over was an option, though) that was made by a nobody in CT for half what a Leer would run. Held up well, too. I know I've seen Cache Campers on at least two T100s, but they'd probably make you figure out the freight-forwarding.

Hi Brian,
I bought my Leer shell in Gallup, several years ago. I don't remember the name of the dealer. It wasn't cheap, almost $1000, but I got 'free' matching paint, just had to wait a few weeks. I've had no problems with it, the paint is lasting better than the truck's. My shell is cab height..

I am not sure if you are looking for a canopy or a slide in camper. I am assuming that you are looking for a high back canopy. I have a Raider on my 'T and love it. http://www.allamericancanopies.com/canopy_Raider.asp
The only drawback is that it is fiberglass and has some weight to it. I used to have a Brahma on my old Toyota truck and it was pretty light, but was weak structurally and developed a crack near the side window.

I just purchased a RAVEN campershell from glasstite products. It is being made and should be ready by the end of the month. Check out their web page for the Raven magnum.

Anybody have any idea how I can get parts for an older brahma camper shell for a xtra cab toyota pickup?

I have an ARE that is color matched to the truck. I originally had it clamped to the bed, but bolted it down because it seemed to shift a bit with the clamps. I mounted a set of Yakima rails and crossbars to it ( I pop them off when I am not carrying stuff to get less air resistance) and have carried up to about 150 lbs up top without a problem. The only big issue with the cab high cap is that my snow blower doesnt fit into the truck.

My only issues with the cap is that a perception kayak wont fit in the bed all the way without punching out the glass (yup that was a mess) and I have a couple of really good scratches from pulling off an old lumber rack off. OOPS...

This is Old.. bumped from 2004. :P [Re: dogslovetrucks] #501619 03/16/06 01:28 AM
