I've replaced mine twice over the years and the last time I replaced it, I cut an access door right over the fuel pump. I've dropped the tank for fuel pump replacement and to do some frame welding and the last time my fuel pump went, I refused to drop the tank again and decided to put the door in. The trap door also alows for easy cleaning of that concaved area where the fuel pump sits.

I thought about suggesting that but god only knows what the cost would be to have the shop do that. Did you go OEM or Bosch?
