I went the HID xenon bulb route. you can also just get different bulbs... Sylvania silverstars PIAA etc. Also add driving or fog lights

I have Piaa's on mine. I love them. They are expensive but I like their color output the best out of all the other's I've seen. http://www.toyotaoffroad.net/jnburtman/NightFrontLightsMore pictures on my 4Runner page. Send me an email for a good deal.

thanks for the info ya'll. I'll look into these options. Did you find these bulbs locally or online?

Go with the Silverstars made by Sylvania...the ones listed above I believe are illegal for street use due to the amount of light they put out. Not only can you get a ticket for using them, but they can also cause accidents by blinding other drivers. Being a cop, I worked an accident where the guy who had the illegal lights got hit head on because he essentially blinded the other driver, who lost his orientation where he was on the road and struck him.
IMHO-Go with the Silverstars. I have them in my 2004 4Runner, and they look like HID's but are legal in the eyes (no pun intended) of DOT.

Don't install 100W light bulbs w/o using upgraded harness. Search for headlight wiring harness or go to www.suvlights.com and buy the harness for Toyotas, you need the negative switchable version. Then you have full power up front. Get the 90/100 W bulbs from www.rallylights.com. Stay away from the fancy blue bulbs. Get the Hella bulbs and they'll last for years. All that for 8.-/piece

I have run Hella's for years and that is all I run in my aux lights. when both headlights burnt out durring a road trip I stopped at walmart I think and picked up some silverstars. They are awesome, and they don't look ricey. Plus you can get them just about everywhere. <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/kewl.gif" alt="" />

I just installed some silverstars for a friend of mine with a Jetta. We left one stock bulb in and put the new bulb in the other side. They didn't look much different, except a little bit whiter.
I like Piaa's the best and have been running them for about 3 years now.
