As of monday I had my new Eaton Electronic-Locker installed in my 95 Isuzu rodeo Dana44. For installation issues the installer had no problems he was able to put the ABS tone ring right back in, I went ahead and got a complete master bearing install kit just because I had romped on those bearings with that LSD pretty hard. A small hole is drilled in the housing from which two wires exit, beyond that there is the button itself and a single relay. That's It. All of the electronics are contained inside of the locker and housing itself, unlike a Toyota e-locker.
I got out for my first trial run this past saturday and my impressions have been very good. Being in the world of the locked front and rear is quite nice. With the simple push of a button the light goes Bright yellow to let you know that it is locked. Locking was instananeous, there wasn't any backing up or rolling forward etc to try and lock in the locker, it was just on. However, when turning off the locker just like with an ARB or a Toyota E-locker you have turn your wheels backup roll forward etc, to make sure that you have disengaged the locker. It seemed far more important that I have instant on than instant off so I am pleased with that.
It seemed a pretty robust unit and I plan on beating on it pretty hard in the next few months. If I break it I will let you know, but my impressions have been that if I break it I will be very surprized.
Once again I will reiterate, having lockers is really cool.

Thanks for the review I really like the e-locker, and noticed you were planning the install. Where did you get it?

even better than locked front and rear is the ability to turn them off. I have had both selectable and non selectable lockers and i will always try to go with selectable from now on.

Glad to hear about your experience. So will this unit fit the '01 D44 as well? If you don't mind my asking, what kind of coin should I expect to shill out, including install? I'm kind of stoked now! After reading the mag article, I was skeptical of the availability for Zu rigs... hehe ..oh the fun I can have with this sucka

I would contact traction.eaton.com There you can send an email and ask who has these lockers in your area. Price should be about the same as a new ARB 600-700 bucks depending on shipping and blah blah. Install is standard install prices.. this should happend for about 150-200 more like 200 if you are getting a new ring and pinion at the same time. Bearing kits are inbetween 60-100 bucks depending on what kind you get.

Thank you very much. It's about what I would have guessed, but I wanted to be sure.
