Here is some information that I have saved on my computer. Originally posted I think by Chad Hunter before he went SAS.

I looked into using late model stuff on a first gen
trooper and this is what I came up with. First you
would want to use 92+ trooper suspension. The upper a
arm bolt pattern on the new troopers are slightly
wider than older ones, but you could probably figure
that out. I think that the lower arms will bolt right
up. You could then use the newer halfshafts. You would
need the upper and lower a arms, spindles, half shafts
from the newer trooper. I'm not sure if the stock
torsion bars will hold up to the added load of the
longer a arms, the newer troopers use longer torsion
bars. All of my researck indicates that it is
possible, but with one draw back. Your front axle will
be about 5-6" wider than it was. I decided that I
couldn't live with that so I never proceeded with the
project.
