I'm not big on slow rockcrawling or mud navigating. I like going fast on rough ground instead.
I'm thinking a little body modification with the flared fenders up through the hood, 32s or 33s, shock and suspension additions with a 2-3" lift, and weight redistribution, and some 4cyl engine performance addons. A huge freaking front bumper, lights on a rack on top, and a more extensive underbody skid system, nicer front seats, and I'd be done.
Sound doable?

Except for the body work, none of it sounds any different than the things a good portion of the members of this board have already done........ so I would say it not only sounds doable, it very much is doable. Good luck

Let me add that speed cost money...... How full is your wallet? Then we can tell you if it's Doable!
You have skill, or gonna pay someone to build it for you ? Buying talent means you'll need to bring more money.
If you want speed, then you may want to rethink the Zu 4 cyl. Not enough after market hot rod parts for the 4 cyls. But, if you've got deep enough pockets I guess custom hardend rods and forged pistons are nothing for a stepper. CJ

that doens't sound like a pre-runner just like most of the troops on this board, if you can do fibergalss work you can do the fenders, skids shouldn't be too hard, a prerunner bumper, if you don't feel like makin it i bet stinkyfab would like to make one for an 0G troop, and the rest is history documented all throughout this site, don't count on any down travel once you lift the front end unless you're gonna make a lift yourself that involves resetting the xmember, also i don't think you're gonna get a lot of power outta that four banger, might wanna look into an engine swap, people can point in the right direction with that one
good luck! totally doable, just might require a little more time and money than you originally thought if you REALLY want a true prerunner set up.

Curtis, wasn't there that guy that had a 2.6L in a car putting 355 to the ground (according to the article)?
I don't remember all that he did, and you aren't gonna get that with 33's, but in the car, he supposedly managed to wring out a lot of power, but probably not much torque......

IMHO I dont think the trooper suspension likes going fast on rough terrain--even potholes on backroads almost break my teeth.

if i am not mistaken, you are talking about baja type stuff right? Even though a trooper is great in many ways, i dont think a tall skinny trooper is good for this job. Going fast on rough roads you will need a low, wide truck with some good travel in the front.
anyways, thought id throw this in for safety reasons

If you don't crank the torsion bars (so you don't lose any downtravel), and run 31s on some wheels with a wider stance (like snowflakes), that would probably suit the purpose a little better.
