I installed a one inch protech spacer in the front and lifted the rear of my Tacoma 1.5" with AOR's 3 inch shackles. The factory Bilsteins are now extended to their max. I can feel the rear end coming to an abrupt stop when going over bumps, it hits very hard. I can get the 5100's or the 5150's in a longer length. will that cause any "shocking" <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/rolleyes.gif" alt="" /> problems, or should I find a way to remount the stockers ???

IMO the 5100s are very good in that application. Don't forget, once you get longer shocks, check to see that the brake hose is still long enough. This brake hose writeup might be helpful. If you use a shock longer than 2" (in the stock location), remember to check the bumpstops to be sure the shocks won't get compressed too much. If you decide to relocate, try to keep the factory angles for the best ride.

Also, sometimes when you add fatter shocks, the leaf will hit (and dent) them. Here's an idea for spacing them over so it doesn't happen.

I had an idea of taking a second axle plate with the shock mount on it off of another truck, beefing it up and installing it between the spring and axle. The u-bolts would go through the original holes. The extra plates would sit on top of the spring perches and the shock mounts would be in the same, but higher location. It would also add an additional 1/2" or so of lift.

I will definately be doing something about the brake line, haven't done any off-roading yet to put it in that much danger, and I still need to adjust the LSPV to compensate for the lift.

Does this sound reasonable, or should I just get the 5100's. If so, anyone know where can they be purchased the cheapest ?? I've only seen them at Performance Products for $80.00.
