This may be our chance.....

I went out to ARB head office today and left my old differential/third member with them for an assessment of the possibility of modifying a Suzuki Vitara locker to fit. I must say at this time they appeared to be quite receptive to the possibility of producing a locker for us. The engineer is going to go over the measurements and let me know sometime soon whether it is a viable proposition.

The viability of this will no doubt come down to dollars and cents as well as fit....

WHAT I WOULD LIKE:

could everyone who is prepared to put their money where their mouth is please email:

sales@arb.com.au

Attention: Adam Snell (Sales Department)
Daniel Bongard (Engineer)

expressing your interest in purchasing one should they be made available.

This could be it <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" /> ......................

Hi Gary,

Did you ask about one for the rear too?

By the way, I think the Zuk rear axle is 28 splines like the Sporty. I don't know if the diameter is close enough to fit.

Front lockers sounds nice but... What about rear? I'd much rather have the rear locked than the front, if it's an either-or situation. Why would you want lockers up front and an open diff in the rear? I dunno...

Well, for now we have a Limited Slip made for the rear (limited traction, but traction non the least), but nothing for the front. That front locker sounds nice, but considering there are LSD for the Samurai/Tracker, what about that route, they are cheaper.

Two reasons why I didn't push the rear axle line as well:

1. I already had a front third member complete I could drop on their counter (and did).

2. In Australia and most of the European nations the Sportage came with a LSD. Whilst not ideal, this is better than being open, but not as good as being locked (I agree).

If we can win them over on the front, I will look at sourcing a rear for them to have a look at as well.

One small step at a time...

Ideally we would have front and rear lockers... Wow that would be nice... drool...

Hey does anyone know about how much a guy has to spend to get an LSD on a 96 Sportage? I'd possibly like to get one... I have spun my wheels a few times.

Arb front and LSD rear does sound pretty darn good, but arb front AND rear would be cosmically awesome...

Definitely 26 spline. Check the arb.com.au site-> products-> airlockers-> Australian and international.
