Getting the Wheeling Fever
Anyone that has one of these "classic" winches may be interested in the pics of the project I just finished.
pics
I ordered a new brake band from the 4wd place in Minnesota with the rights to these things, and still have to have a thimble swedged on the end of the cable, but it all works well. I have it set up with a warn remote and dual solenoids wired parallel for the power in.

EDIT------------------
Hope this works. Damn I'm no good at this stuff!

hmm..thanks. I think? You can tell I wasn't really concerned about rock crawling with the design. It's stout, removable, and fits pretty tight to the grill. Did I say it was stout? Approach angle isn't too bad by my standards.

Stout makes it sound reaaaaally heavy, which it isn't. The sides are 12ga, and the winch box is 3/16" & 1/4". I would guess about 75-85# for the steel, and 80# more for the winch. I was able to pick it up myself and mount it. It slides into 2 reciever size tubes mounted under the frame. Incorporated some gussets/bracing to strengthen the frame where it attaches. I can remove it by pulling 2 3/4" bolts and the wiring. I was going for the "look" of the ARB and TJM bumpers when I modeled it, but I had to weld all of the seams, because forming would have doubled the cost. I have $150 and about 2 small spools of .030 wire into it.
