Wont hurt to play with the dealer and at least find out if they are in a position to "discuss" the truck and asking price. If they play hard ball, do a 180, drop trou and show them what you think of their business practices. (Notice he aint driving so this is perfectly good advice and safe too).

Private party will give you the best deal because most people dont have markup and overhead....some need food on the table and others have a new payment that needs taking care of. Shop before you buy....took me over a year to find my 4Runner in the condition I wanted (needing help) for the price I was willing to pay (still too much <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/rolleyes.gif" alt="" />).
