there are and can by an infinite number of parties. not just two, not just three. if you want to get down to the nitty-gritty, two friends who share similar beliefs can form a political party. Heck, we could form the 4Low party!

As for the viability of additional parties, I look at it this way: You're at a restaurant and the menu has three things on it - dog poop, monkey poop, and a piece of driftwood. That driftwood sure looks tasty compared to the other two choices doesn't it!!

I don't particularly care which additional party shows up, heck you could form some unholy amalgamation of hitler and marx and alien overlords and joey lawrence.. and I'd prefer that over the two jerks masquerading as major presidential candidates.
