I have been looking at previous posts, & I can't find any information on what is out there as far as a Full locking differential like a detroit... etc Do any of y'all have any information on what I can stuff in the back of a 1st Gen SWB... this side of the ol' "Lincoln" locker, or is the ARB air locker the only way? Thank you, Harry

Not 100% sure but I believe the ARB is the only available locker unless you want to swap gen II/III parts in.
Gen II's have an LP air actuated locker stock from the factory but different sized diff than the gen I.
Gen III's have an LSD that's supposedly modifyable with a few parts to make it a locker but I don't know if anyones even seriously considered putting one in a Gen I.
IMHO, unless you're really going hard core (beyond the difficulty of the Rubicon) and/or simply don't have enough articulation then you're a likely canditate for needing a Locker. Otherwise, you can likely get buy with a properly functioning LSD and it's safer on the street. FWIW I've personally done the 'con w/ only a rear LSD.
Of course getting a locker just so you can say you have one is a whole different story.

hmmmm, I recall hearing that too but couldn't even remotely confirm it nor be sure I wasn't mis-remembering a thread.
I know that some have put custom detroits int the front diff & you can also put a starion LSD up front.

Is your intension to improve them or simply bring them back up to their original "new LSD" performance levels?

Otherwise, you can likely get buy with a properly functioning LSD and it's safer on the street. What makes you say a LSD is safer on the street than something else, such as a selectable locker?? Or even an open diff??
Two MRI's and a CAT scan....it's confirmed. I'm just not right in the head.

well kinda... if i am right on these what keeps them puttin power to both wheels is the clutches inside the rear end.. right?? they are controlled by springs..stock the power distribution is probly 25/75??? mabe?? so if you put stiffer springs there will be more pressure on the clutches and more like a 50/50 power distribution.

I think Bigblue was modifying a front LSD with more springs/clutches. It was in a thread not too long ago I think. He might have some info on that subject.

Detroit's are available for this truck, but it will cost you more than an ARB. They are custom made by a company in Australia, shipping is money, custom work is money too.
You better off with an ARB money wise, besides I cant see the benefit of a rear Detroit over an ARB in a road driven rig any way.
