What makes you say a LSD is safer on the street than something else, such as a selectable locker?? Or even an open diff??

From everything I've heard & seen, an LSD will give you traction when you need it while still allowing you to turn more easily than a full locker. Yes a selectable locker like an ARB or Mitsu can also be turned off but it's usually safer to have an automatic solution where human error isn't a factor. Also, for those who have LSD's that don't like them on the trails, I suspect they have an improperly functioning unit. I've done quite a few hard core obstacles / trails with my LSD and my rig did fine with the dif locking up when it needed to. Didn't have to use the hand brake trick, etc. It just worked.

IMHO the best solution would be a combo LSD/Locker like I hear one can do with the Gen III LSD's.
