Getting the Wheeling Fever

When I go over a ridge or bump in the road, I feel a knock in the steering wheel. I am thinking this may be a sway bar that is loose and worn. Any other considerations? Safety considerations? Are they easy to replace? Can anyone refer me to the procedure?
