RVXT have tread on the sidewalls. It really helps to dig out of deep loose ruts, I use it many times for this purpose. Also, it makes them stronger.

Large outside squared lugs are great to dig into sand or other loosy surfice, according to my experience. This is why not many manufacturers use them. The only surfice where you need outside lugs is mud. Not much mud in CA is around.
