I have not had many sets of tires, but have had a good bit of experience with a few brands, dunlop, goodyear and toyo. I had a set of Goodyear ATPs, and I do now, ok for street, but lousy in wet weather. My mom had them on her car and now on a liberty, horrible treadware and horrible wet weather traction. That is why I will not buy a goodyear tire. The dunlops I had wore quickly, but were awesome in wet weather and pretty good in the mud. Heres the set I had.
Now compare those to the RVXTs
In my opinion the RVs are much more agressive. And yes I have seen both these tires in person. Those lugs on the sides were not very deep on the tires I saw. I have also heard of weird treadware patterns on them as well. For snow and rain, yes these tires will be great. But for mud I would pass them up. I live up in NEPA, and have a large mix of terrain. Anything from rocks to mud to sand and pavement. Im not discounting them as a bad tire, it depends on the terrain your planning on hitting. These are just my experiences and oppinions. Getting the right tires at the right price is always a difficult job. Im sorry to have flared any tempers. But the tread on the RVXTs is not my personal preference. If your mainly looking for street, rain and snow performance as well as some sand and packed dirt, that is probably the right tire. But up here in NEPA, it would be my last choice. My mud tires that are going to be remounted were great in the snow last winter.
