has any one actualy done one???? i have read a few short threads that kick the idea around... but i cant find any real info... i was lookin at this because (depending on the work) it might be a much cheaper and better all around than the re-arching or addaleafs(both are going to make the spring stiffer and i dont want them much stiffer) i live in colorado and need some flex for the rocks but the ground clearance for snow ect.i was thinkin bout the soa but lots of people on here are adversed to that.........i dont know but i like the ranger leaf idea cuz there is a yard here that i could get some bronc 2 springs for cheap... ideas.??/ i geuss it will need to match cranked tbars (havent yet will do that when springs are underway)thanx in advance for the help..

Need a Spot
i DON'T KNOW ABOUT RANGER SPRINGS BUT THE S-10 SPRING UNDER MY 85 WORK VERY VERY WELL. YOU WILL NEED TO DO CUSTOM SHACKLES AND HANGERS BUT AS LONG YOU MEASURE ALOT AND DO ONLY ONE SIDE AT A TIME ITS GRAVY. ALSO ALOT OF GUYS AROUND HERE WITH TOYOTAS DO ASTO VAN REAR SPRINGS AND DODGE CARAVAN REARS.EVERBODY DOES IT FOR THE REASONS YOU TALK ABOUT..MORE TRAVEL MORE CLEARANCE THEY DON'T SAG HANDLE BETTER. YOU KNOW...GOOD LUCK AND JUST DO IT

Roll Me Over
I've looked at it extensively, and done all the math, but I was also going to do an SOA with it. I'm not so sure that the work is worth it, as mine flex's very well. As much as I would like to do it, Unless i can get a 10" travel shock into the mix, then for me it's just a change.
I don't know how much you have wheeled yours, but I can put a front, or rear on a 28" tree trunk and have the other three on the ground.
If you are looking at "cheap" fix's then there are none that do it all.
You also have a slip yoke, and I don't.
You may/will need to deal with the "e-brake" cables if you really want it ot flex, as you will find that they get in the way.
As I said, I was looking at an SOA with 10" travel shocks, mounted higher then the stock location.
Good luck

PS. 85 monteroS; fix your caps key

Are you looking for lift, or are yours worn out? If the latter, I had two donors for my gig and one had decent springs and the others were worn out from towing a boat. I have the good ones on now and all seems fine. So if you just need to replace yours, maybe the bone-yard is your cheapest route.

Like I said, the add-a-leafs did give noticeable lift, though I don't know how much. But it would also literally bounce over bigger bumps. Cornering sometimes wasn't fun.

Good luck on the mission and keep us posted.
