Does anyone know for sure if an ECM from an S-10 with the 2.8 V6 is interchangeable with the ECM from a Trooper with the 2.8 V6? Junk yards are telling me no, but it seems I have read on this board they are interchangeable, although I can't find any post dealing with it now.
Thanks in advance.

If you have an auto, then I doubt it will work because the s-10 and trooper used a different auto tranny. Thats the only thing i can think of that would cause problems.

These would both be manual transmissions. Just trying to get a fairly definitive answer before making the drive to pick up the S-10 ECM. Is there any other (ie Jeep Cherokee) ECM that will work?

I found a 92 Astrovan ECM in my pickup when I bought it. But that's for a 3.1, and we're talking 2.8s.

Just trying to get a fairly definitive answer before making the drive to pick up the S-10 ECM. Is there any other (ie Jeep Cherokee) ECM that will work? AFAIK, the 2.8 in the Heeps was carbureted. So, as I sit here in my office, never having even seen one up close and personal, I'm thinking that it wouldn't work. Come to think of it, does the S-10 have TBI like the Trooper or MPFI like the 2.8 Berettas and Crapaliers? Good luck, Phil

ECM on Ebay This guy claims it will work. I went ahead and picked it up, I will post tomorrow if it does in fact work. We'll find out for sure, once and for all.
