Dan, I do believe the 3800 SC has the throttle body pointing towards the rear of the block. Are you getting enough clearance between the supercharger and the firewall in your application?
Not where the tranny is now. The TB flange on the input to the SC is less than an inch from the firewall. I'd *really* like to keep the motor that far back too. It'll be a pain to slide the tranny forward, re-do all the shifters, driveshafts, etc. Plus, balance is better with the motor/tranny slid back as far as possible. I do have a solution though. I'm looking at getting an air/water IC plate made up that will also adapt to the bolt pattern of an M-112 SC off a Lightning. So, I get a SC upgrade from an M90 to M112, an intercooler and a RWD intake setup all in one. What remains to be seen is cost of the plate. Typically, these are milled out of a chunk of aluminum (i.e., spendy if you're paying someone else). It's possible I may be able to fabricate an adapter though, hopefully without being godawful ugly. It actually looks like an easy adaptor to make. The flange for the M90 vs M112 is very close to the same overall size, so a simple, squared off adapter will work. No weird angles, or "funnel" type adapters are needed. Greg, Dan and I were jawing about that last night -- I find it quite funny that Turbo Dan has an extra supercharger just "laying around" his garage... and probably funnier still that Deb doesn't know about it! How many other articles of 'spare' forced induction do you have laying around, Dan?
I'd like to see him keep the air filter in the glove box, but he's planned a different path.
Pretty pics, Dan.

Ok, I got my Isuzu (purist that I am ) bellhousing on the tranny with the motor bolted to it and I'm working on motor mounts now. The bell is a thing of beauty. It's a very well made casting with some kind of anti-corrosion coating (almost looks like galvanizing?) that polishes up like chrome if one really wanted to. ![[Linked Image]](http://www.houlster.com/amigo/3800sc/images/117_1767_small.jpg) The firewall won't be a problem so I don't have to move my tranny forward. My "RWD" conversion looks good. ![[Linked Image]](http://www.houlster.com/amigo/3800sc/images/117_1786_small.jpg) There's 1 bolt hole in common between the M112 and the M90, so that's what it's bolted on with right now. It will sit a couple inches higher than that when I'm done though. I've spent a couple weeks drawing my adapter/intercooler up. I'm trying to get a price on machining for it. It's a clamshell type IC. The core is a B&M stacked plate core. The bottom of the IC has the M90 pattern bolt pattern, the top half has the M112 pattern. The half-circle cut-outs on the side are for the water hoses to the core. They're a little under-sized for the hose so they'll work as hose clamps as well when the halves are bolted together. The whole thing is 2 1/8" thick, so the SC in the above pics will be sitting that much higher installed. Anybody know a machinist that works cheap??? ![[Linked Image]](http://www.houlster.com/amigo/3800sc/images/ic4.jpg) ![[Linked Image]](http://www.houlster.com/amigo/3800sc/images/ic5.jpg) --Dan

I just want to say that I'm not much of a poster on this board but I'm a fairly avid reader and I'm also not mechnically inclined but it is just awfully interesting to read/see threads like this and the countless others on this board and to see the work that some of the people here put into their rigs.
That is all.

Anybody know a machinist that works cheap??? Somebody posted on here a while back with a machine shop online that takes your design/dimensions at makes it for you. I can't think of who it is that does it right now. A search should find it, but I don't have the time right now to search for it. Richard

Not that I'm likely to ever actually get around to doing an engine swap but I looked into the 3800SC also and gave up on it when I found out how far forward you'd have to set it to clear the intake ducting. Way to go on adapting the other SC. Might I inquire as to how much the motor and new SC are setting you back (Send in E-mail if necessary)??? From what I've seen the Ford Turbo SC can be had for a reasonable amount of $$$ for a complete car, they're intercooled from the factory and make around 315ft/lbs @ 2700 and 21(?)hp @ 4000. I know they had problems with the factory head gaskets on those motors, I was wondering if there were other reasons you went with the Buick instead of the Ford???

I may have to question your purity, Turbo, er, um, SUPER Dan.
Looks good regardless, Dan! Toddle on up this way with a billet of aluminum and I'll key you into the mill at my workplace's machine lab on a weekend. It has motorized crossfeed, but you'll have to spin your own handwheels for the Y and Z dimensions... It ain't DRO, but we're talking a sandwich plate, not dowel-alignment. BTW, the built-in hose clamps are damn slick!
You gonna be able to sneak this in under the hood, courtesy of that body lift?

Might I inquire as to how much the motor and new SC are setting you back (Send in E-mail if necessary)??? The motor, all accessories, wiring harness and shipping was a little more than you'd pay for a new Warn winch. It's an '02 w/ 19000 miles so was a pretty good deal I think. The Lightning SC I've had for a while, but it's kind of a wash. I can turn around and sell the M-90, TB, MAF sensor assembly for more than what the Lightning SC cost me. I was wondering if there were other reasons you went with the Buick instead of the Ford??? It's quite a bit older motor, no bellhousing for my tranny (that I know of) and I'm not really a Ford guy. It's probably not a bad candidate, but just not for me. --Dan

Somebody posted on here a while back with a machine shop online that takes your design/dimensions at makes it for you. I can't think of who it is that does it right now. It's emachineshop. I've got a couple things quoted before (header and turbo flanges) and their prices seem pretty high to me. I did try to get a quote on this actually just to see, but kept running into issues with importing into their program. I'll give it another shot though to see. --Dan
