I would like to hear everyones's favortie method for priming a newly built engine with oil. In my ag engines, I just use a syringe (sans the needle) in an oil line fitting close to the oil pump and I do this to just prime the pump. Then I keep the fuel/spark off and let the starter prime and then build oil pressure. I would like to hear some ideas from everyone else though.

Jerry suggested a pressurized container and feed the whole engine, but the engine is in the truck and getting to a good fiting for doing that would be tough.

As for an update: Finally, after a 2-3+ week exile from the shop because of work, Thanksgiving, etc. I put in the long day needed to finish the engine rebuild. But I didn't finish )-; - I am missing a hose clamp and the radiator mounting bolts and I don't have the right size of either anywhere. Oh well, its 1:30 in the morning so I won't be going out to the store and get any. Guess I'll fire up will be tomorrow if I can get to the store and then sneak in a hour or two of shop time. I need to connect the driveshafts and a few other small things too. Very close to firing it up!
