I hope you got the Trooper real cheap. Cause the price of a good TD engine and tranny is gonna kill you. You might try Jerry Lemond and see if he's got any left. Last I talked to him I think he had one. But it may have sold by now. He's the resident Isuzu diesel motor guru. He taught Isuzus mechanics for years, but is now retired. He keeps all kinds of replacement parts for Isuzus. Gas and diesel
FYI: (in case you don't know) The Trooper Diesels came with three different size connecting rods to handle the boost. An Isuzu 2.2L pickup diesel will bolt in and work, but they don't have the optimum rods, so over boosting them is a death sentence. And to tubo a non turbo diesel Isuzu motor is a waste of money, cause it won't last long, unless you've got a real light foot. And what fun is that?
You could use a MUA5 gas transmission if you can find the 2.2L MUA 1-2 diesel bell housing. The front case half/bell housing will interchange. So,don't pass up a worn out MUA diesel tranny if it still has the front housing with it. A MUA5 in working order will be easier to find. Good Luck.
CJ
Edit note: The interchangeability of the MUA5 will only swap with the MUA 1-2 diesel bell housing. Not the other diesel 5 speed transmission. Sorry for the confusion. Jerry set me straight. I have the MUA 1-2 diesel bell housing. MUA5 tranny and someday I'll go pick up the other diesel tranny and make some comparisons. Who klnows maybe a diesel motor to put in front of it.
