Getting the Wheeling Fever
Eureka! I've got intermittent wipers again.

I got my relays from Mouser last Wednesday and installed one this evening And Eureka it worked! I figure I saved ~$250 dollars by DIM (doing it myself). The relay cost $5.10 (USD).

I had to call the US Fujitsu distributor and ask them to sell 4 relays to Mouser to resale to me. It took three weeks to get that finalized. Besides that, getting the relay off the circuit board was the biggest chore for this fix. Well worth the trouble.

A big thanks to 2000 Frontera and NATO308 for the research and posts.

This is what started it all

Roll Me Over
Lets bring this one back from the dead for a while. My wifes 98 passport rear wiper has been hit and miss for a while now. Well now it's completely dead. With winter comming I'd like the thing to work, it's really the only time we ever use it.

The relays from fujitsu are impossible to get, I spoke with Fujitsu and Mouser both and Fujitsu is unwilling to sell Mouser a small quantity for resale to me.

My contact at Mouser, Joe Adams searched and found the NEC relay EQ1-22111S. Well the loud part of this scares me. I don't think mama will like that. Did anyone ever go back and insulate theirs?

Did anyone ever find a quiet replacement that can be bought in small quantities?

Joe

Roll Me Over
I may have found a suitable quiet type relay that can be bought in small quantities. They have a thirty dollar minumum order.

It's the NAIS/Aromat CQ1-12V relay.
Cut sheet: http://www.fcai.fujitsu.com/pdf/FTR-P1.pdf

It looks like it will fit ok the pin spacing is a bit off but I figure it's close enough.

Here is the source: online components

I hope this helps some out,

Joe

Is that the same relay for the front IWW (my fronts are shot)? I'd be willing to go in with you to offset that minimum order cost.

Anyone got a few of these quiet relays leftover and want to sell them to me? Know of anyone who does? I just got a 2000 Rodeo and both the rear and front intermittent wipers aren't working. Thanks for all the info I've found on this site already.

Edit: Only need two, but may end up purchasing enough to make the $30 min order from OnlineComponents.com if I can't find someone who's already done that and has extra to sell to me.

Thanks,

Jason

you guys rock! I just got my 98' Rodeo and it had the intermitent problem. I ordered the relays from Mouser for 4.95 a piece so I ordered 2. It was easy to replace although I got a little confused because my module said (ABS) but sure enough it was the right relay.
Thank you very much for posting a picture too.

New to the Forum - and you'll see by my sig it looks like I'm in the "wrong forum"--well its not a Jeep problem.
But, Believe it or not--my boat's autopilot has the same P1CN012N relays! Seems it now wants to only go in left (make that port) circles. Checked Mouser and the rest of the leads and no joy. BTW I'm in Australia and will check the junk yards next - but does ANYBODY have a few spare relays (2) they'd like to sell at less than a 100+ quantity? any leads please -- I hate going in circles.
Cheers - Jim
wonder if this is why the Jeep's rear wiper is inop too??? Hmm might need 3! Thanks in advance!

Amazing mouser is out of them already. I bought mine in november and they had 68 of them in stock. Hopefully they buy another batch.

HighSeasJeep: If you cant find them anywhere and dont care if its quiet you can get a NEC EQ1-31000S from mouser. Its identical just louder.

Edit: When I looked at the page it said in stock, when I clicked on the link it says back order, weird. Sierra IC shows some NEC's in stock but I dont know what their minimum order is.

Grizzy - Thanks for that! The NEC part number has yielded some results here in OZ. I'll call the place come Monday and get some sent to me. They have in stock - online catalog says - and they're about $4.50US each. Just gotta find that url - I've misplaced.
Thanks Heaps! Cheers! Jim
