I don't know much as far as the soft covers go, but...what I plan on doing if I don't go the cap route is a roll-top. They take up about 10 or 12 inches of the bed up front where they mount, they're resonably secure, seal well against water from what I've seen, and do a good job. They have locks, and you use em or ya dont. Most mount flush or almost so with the rails so it's hard to tell they're there is you're looking from the side.

I know BAK Makes one, Pace-Edwards, Retrax ( Website) makes a nice one. I found that is well priced (cheaper) from Peragon. I think Access makes a few different kinds. A google search will yield many results, and I gave a couple the links I know.

My personal opinion is the retractable ones. I like having a hard surface there which you just can't get with some of the vinyl ones. Anyway, just my two cents.
