FloridaTaco, the 6-speed is as smooth as a sports car, however it will take some getting used to where reverse is, over to the left and up.

The 2005 Tacoma is going to be available in 18 (yes I said 18) different configurations. So yes, it will, as far as I know, be available in a quad-cab with 6-foot bed.

T-Rex, I paid below sticker for the Tacoma, it was the first and only one on the lot, 20 miles on it, sales people of course. I don't believe there will be any manual hub options. The 4 wheel drive selector is electric, but it was on my '03 also, and had zero problems with it.

The front suspension looks very similiar, but the back is different. Only in the fact that the shackles are now below the spring. The frame mounted rear spring hangers are below the springs, and the shocks, ala the ford f-series, are on the outside of the frame.

Marc M...thanks for the info. The electric selector for the transfer case does not bother me. Actually, it's one less thing to worry about cutting and bending the shifter if doing a body lift, which I would do once I get mine. For now, I may not be able to get mine until '06 since I just added several thousands into my current T100, and my wife is still wondering I need to lift my truck.

Anyway, sounds like you got a pretty good deal if it's under sticker. As for the rear suspension, sounds like the easiest way is to do a SPOA (spring over axel) lift like that of the Jeep Wrangler and Suzuki Samurai. If the front is similar, hopefully the aftermarket will develope a kit soon.

Would be cool to see some modified '05 Taco soon. Only wish I can afford a new one now.

02 Tacoma Double Cab TRD Prerunner .. just added 3" lift .. more to come
