If you measured from the rear middle arched lower part of your fender to the ground, how many inches do you have? What tires are you running?

I'm not following the rear-middle-arched-lower part, but from the high point directly through the rear hub - fender to ground is 34"

Running 235/75 X 15 ATs

So I guess you are running 235's which equals about 28 inches tall. I am running 31's. I measured 36 from that area to ground with the MVP springs. That would mean that the Jeep springs would raise my Kis one more inch. How is your ride? Do you get any humming/vibration when going 70 or so and slowing down suddenly? I once measured 38" with the front springs in the rear and I got vibration when slowing down considerably in the HY.

The ride is nice, it rides alot more like a 4X4 than a car now but it is still pretty maneuverable in traffic. It's still a daily driver in Chicago traffic and I haven't had any problems. Swerved to avoid traffic the other day and took it from the middle lane to the shoulder and 55mph or so to zero in a few seconds and she held on for me. I expected to be far off into the grass when it happened but was really surprised at how it handled the situation.

Chicago, eh! What part of Chicago? I lived there for more than 20 years. Now, if you measured the distance from the fender to the tire and then lifted the truck from the body (not the chasis)until the wheel came off the ground, you would have the amount of inches the springs(shock if you still have the stock one) will allow for the wheel to travel in off road situations. I get about 6 inches with the Mazda springs. When you get a chance, do you think you can take that measurement? That will tell me how many inches I could get of down travel from those springs. How much did you pay for the Jeep springs? Were they new or used?

Nice, I'm out in the far SW burbs (Plainfield) now, but used to live NW side of the city(Diversey & Oak Park).

I'm still running stock length shocks so I'm only getting about 1 3/4" before it pulls the tire off the ground. Haven't figured out which shocks to go with, I was going to start a thread on that. Haven't had a lot of luck in the search.

I got the set of Jeep springs for $50 from a guy in a local jeep club. He is the mechanical mind behind several of the jeep lifts and so had a garage full of stock springs to choose from. The fronts were of no use but he insisted I take a whole set to lighten his load. I can get more probably if anyone is looking, I believe he had 2 or 3 sets left.

I have shocks which are 21 inches long and they stop just as the springs start to loosen up. I guess I could go an inch longer, but the springs might fall out then.
I used to live around North Ave. and Damen, UP-Town.

The springs don't matter all that much. I have I think something like 24" Rancho RS9000s in the rear, Eibach springs, which did fall out when completely flexed (due mostly because a stupid mechanic ripped off the the bump stops... <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/rolleyes.gif" alt="" />) before I got the 2" spacers, and the actual limiting factor are the arms. They need to be longer to afford more flex (than what I already have. ie.: I cannot get any beter flex because of the superlong shocks I have. The arms hit their limit before the shocks dob (but only ~.25" before the shocks would)). Depending on how this was done it could also make for a longer wheelbase which would look better for lifting the Sportage higher; the tire wouldn't be so close to the front-side of the rear wheelwell.
