Believe a 2-1/8" will also work; you'll need a 3/8 to 1/2" adapter if you don't have a 1/2"dr rachet or breaker bar.
Got mine from MacTool. If you haven't already, check out the tech articles here for front end maintenance. <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/kewl.gif" alt="" />

Often asked, always answered. Most people go to Sears. Get the 2 1/8 (3/4 drive) socket and a 3/4 to 1/2 adapter (unless you have a HUGE freakin' ratchet). I think it'll come to around 22 or 23 bucks.

Central 4WD used to have them cheaper than they have 'em listed for now.

Used to be you could get it for $15 shipped, but now it's up to $22 for that thin-wall piece. NWOR also carries them, for around the same price after you add shipping. You can try scoring one cheap off Ebay, or just save yourself the hassle and pick one up from Sears when there's a sale going on. Christmas season is coming up, lots of discounts if you can wait that long. Got my 2 1/8" socket from them last year for 25% off, came out to $18.xx.

No disrespect, but this has been my experience with autozone. They can rarely find the part I need. OK this is not fair I guess, you are looking for a tool not a part.
You should talk to your boss - maybe a 54mm socket is something you should carry. If you work at autozone, and can't find the stuff you need for your own vehicle, you can imagine what customers think when they come in looking for help...
Goto NAPA, or Bap-Geon, with your autozone shirt on - I bet they can help you out...

BTW, I use the 2 1/8" socket from Sears as well.

Not that it's any cheaper, but Marlin Crawler has it listed on the bottom of the page. $24

they also have the spring tension tool pretty cheap.

Thought I would add it for completness sake.

another note, I use a large pair of water pump pliers since I'm too cheap to buy a socket. They work quite well......

My local Toyota dealer had them, sitting on the
counter recently. I got mine at Southern
Auto Parts ($15).

To re-assemble the axle, properly, you'll use a
torque wrench on it. Can't torque the axle nut
with a hammer and chisel.
