Build a flatbed that incorporates a toolbox (what i did). Now you have a place to store the snowboard gear or anything else that won't fit in the cab. You could build a flat bed that incorporates your cap but I bet it would look kind of ghetto. The problem with your idea is even if you get another old rustfree bed from out West it will start rusting just like your old one. Face it we are cursed with salt in the NE. Do the 89 beds hold up any better than the early ones? If they do will your cap fit the new bed? Also you will probably have to make new mounts and remove old ones to fit the later bed. Not sure about this part, but a guess.
