Sure it's not the o-ring for the distributor? Just a thought; and yep, good luck on your spin!

immm sooo pissed off..... toyota has the worst fucki*g design ever for timing.... everything went together fine.. oh except for the leaks and it ran perfect drove perfect but leaked a bit,,,,, i hate that.... so i took off the head again bc its not to hard,... i have it down to 15 mins... and now the timing decides to skip a gear.... im guessing... its not really lining up with the cam very well.. one tooth off.,prob... but now i have to take it apart again and get the timing on,.,,, oh this will be the 4th time doing this.... ive never had any probs like this pile of shi% timing......... they are gay....

so i took off the head again bc its not to hard,... i have it down to 15 mins... I think you may have answered your own question. SLOW DOWN! Seriously, take your time getting things lined up and in order, make sure everything is clean before reassembly then relubed appropriatly. On the timing if you have the cover off, make 100% sure that the crank keys are at 12 oclock, the cam dowel also at 12'oclock, slide the gears on without the crank or cam moving. With that done, start bolting stuff back together. If the head gasket isnt ripped where it goes out over the timing cover, then you have an issue of misalignment (something aint flush) causing the oil leak. Take the time to lay a strait adge along the block crossing the timing cover...they MUST be perfectly flush or it wont seal and I can guarentee a failed head gasket will follow. Your record times for Head R&R are great but your quality of work is dropping. Kinda like the old saying...Measure twice and cut once. ~Darin

well i took it off and i put it together so fast bc i knew where everything was thats all....but im timing it as we speak,,,, it runs but like *****.... and i cant figure it all out,,,, the distr. points to 0 when at tdc #1... and when it runs its crapy..... but then i move the dist abit to put it in diff.also lined up with # 1 and i timing light it and its off the tab. its over at 10 o'clock..... im not sure on what to do.... i know the timing is on down stairs.. but would one tooth make a diff...?maybe its off on top.? but it was at 12',, i dunno..... i consiter it JUNK....
